INTRODUCTION
For many people, cycling is something they take for granted. For others, a standard bicycle is unsuitable or unsafe. A survey of vanRaam riders explored what adapted mobility makes possible. The results are grouped into three themes: Mobility, Social Connection and Sustainability.
About this research
In April and May 2026, 846 vanRaam riders from countries including the Netherlands and Germany shared their experiences in an extensive survey. The independent impact agency Value for Good analysed the results.
The percentages show what riders experience themselves. To make the wider social impact visible, the results were extrapolated to approximately 90,000 active vanRaam riders. Scientific studies and key statistics were used for this purpose, including data on health, mobility and CO_2 emissions. These calculations provide a substantiated picture of the potential impact.
